"My Magical Night Mare" has been written to help children feel more empowered. This beautifully illustrated, concise book shows readers how to imagine and encourages them to practice imagining by creating new endings to bad dreams - leaving them feeling brave and strong.
During a school counselling session with a young girl - a child - who was suicidal, it was apparent that she did not believe that she could do anything. She was unable to say that she liked herself, much less loved herself.
This situation, and others like it, catalyzed this book. I became aware of so many other children and adults who did not remember their "amazingness". The affirmations of the book tumbled out in February, 2007, and when the words were ready six months later, the artist, Tanya, appeared and the book I AM AMAZING! came to happen.
